MACHU PICHU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST CANT PUT INTO WORDS HOW AWSOME THIS PLACE IS! WE ARE TRYING TO UPLOAD PHOTOS TO PICASA FOR ALL TO ENJOY! EVERYTHING JUST CONTINUES TO WORK OUT FOR US ON THIS TRIP. WE MET A COUPLE AT THE BRANCH HERE IN PERU THAT WERE GOING TO CUSCO AT THE SAME TIME AS US AND ASKED US TO TAG ALONG TO SEE MACHU PICHU. THEY GAVE US ALL THE DATES THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY BOUGHT TICKETS FOR SO THAT WE COULD GET SOMETHING SIMILAR AS FAR AS TRAIN TICKETS AND SUCH! TURNED OUT WE GOT TRAIN TICKETS SITTING NOT ONLY IN THE SAME TRAIN CAR BUT THE SAME BOOTH AS WELL! CRAZY HUH? SO WE ENJOYED SOME RUM AND COKES TOGETHER AS WE SPED TOWARDS MACHU PICHU!

AS YOU CAN TELL BY THIS PIC WHEN WE CLIMMBED BEHIND PICHU WE WERE PRETTY HIGH UP AS THAT IS MACHU PICHU IN THE BACKGROUND!

Leaving cajamarca

thursday we wil be in cusco-- the gateway to Machu Pichu! we cant wait! cusco is one location the branch said they needed help so we will be seeing what the service is like there and then its off to tacna! the border town between peru and chile. this part of the journey we will be taking a sleeper bus from cusco to arequipa then arequipa to tacna. by the time we are done we will have done every form of transportation on this trip... plane, bike, motocycle, walk(the most popular) bus, taxi, and of course cruise ship!!!! ( our ticket home!) today we fly back to Lima to spend the day with a great family we spent a week with when we first got here. they are in the Miraflores congregation and that is where we preached for our first week in peru. we are there only for the day before we take off to Cusco! Lima will be hosting an international convention around the same time we want to return to south america in November and the branch is looking forward to welcomeing us as need greaters with the convention being a great kickoff. so far we have met many missionary couples and love there spirit they maintain. many having done this for many years and serving in many parts of peru. fortunetly we were able to stay in a missionary home in cajamarca for the 10 days we were there so that rocked! we will write again soon with pics of the Pichu!!!!--- tony and char

MORE PREACHING!!!!

HERE THE WEATHER CAN CHANGE OVERNIGHT DURING THE RAINY SEASON. OFTEN LEAVING THE ROADS PRETTY MUDDY IN THE POOR PARTS OF TOWN. YOU GET USED TO IT FOR THE RESPONSE YOU GET FOR SERVICE. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE PREPARED AND DRESSED FOR IT. THE LITTLE KIDS DONT SEEM TO MIND. LAST WEEK WAS PACKED WITH ACTIVITY! THE MEMORIAL, AN ASSEMBLY( IN WHICH I ALSO TRAVLED WITH A BETHEL SPEAKER FRIEND OF MINE TO A TOWN CALLED BOMBAMARKA SO HE COULD GIVE 2 TALKS AT THEIR ASSEMBLY. WE HAD TO LEAVE AT 3 a.m TO GET THER AT 8:30 ON SOMETHING YOU REALLY COULDNT CALL A ROAD AND CLIMBED TO AN ELEVATION OF 14,500 FEET! WE THOUGHT WE HAD A ROUGH TREK UNTIL WE GOT THERE AND REALIZED THAT MANY HAD STARTED AT THE SAME TIME TO GET THERE FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY BUT WALIKING------ IN THE RAIN------AND MUD------FOUR 5 AND A HALF HOURS!!!! USUALLY THEY MEET UP WITH A FRIEND THEY KNOW IN THE TOWN AND SHOWER CHANGE AND SPEND THE NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY THEY CONTINUE BACK HOME. I KEPT WONDERING IF I WOULD DO THE SAME TO MAKE IT TO AN ASSEMBLY DAY.......HUH???? WE ARE BECOMING BETTER TEACHERS HERE BECAUSE AT EVERY DOOR THE PEOPLE ACTUALLY LISTEN. AT MEMORIAL FOR EXAMPLE YOU PRETTY MUCH JUST HAVE TO QUADRUPLE THE PUBLISHERS WE HAVE IN THE CONGREGATIONS BACK HOME AND THAT WAS THE ATTENDANCE FOR THE LOCAL 6 CONGREGATIONS IN CAJAMARCA! FOR EXAMPLE THE SAN ROQUE CONGREGATION HAS 90 PUBLISHERS AND THEY HAD 562 IN ATTENDANCE. NOT BAD FOR A BODY OF 3 ELDERS. USUALLY THEY HAVE ABOUT 50 PEOPLE STANDING UP FOR EACH MEETING. SO THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING QUICK AS FAR AS A SPLIT IS CONCERNED BUT THEY NEED ANOTHER ELDER SO THEY CA HAVE 2 AND 2. THAT IS THE NORM HERE!

in Cajamarca

Hey,

Peru is awesome! We are loving it! We came here to preach and that is
what we are getting. The people respond well to the message. They have
a deep respect for the bible as we know here in latin America. They
only have here in Peru, 40 need greaters so they need a lot of help.
Many have at least 16 bible studies. We started two today it is so
easy. Everyone listens so at times its hard for Tony and I cuz we
didn't prepare for more to say. One young man told Tony and a brother
to teach him the bible. At the end of the conversion the brother told
the guy " all we need is a body of water."

We have met some amazing young ones serving Jehovah here from the
states and Europe single! Makes me happy. Marriage will always be
there but adventure is priceless. Many are obtaining adventure on only
three hundred dollars to live a month. They are so busy with there
studies it's crazy! We went with them on some and its cool to watch
them teach them how to prepare for the meetings. Here they will drop
the study if they do not prepare for their study and go to meeting
after the first chapter.

Were we are is in Cajamarca Peru. Poor but amazing! We work closely
with the missionaries. They have been so encouraging, we don't know
what we would do with out them. Who knows, maybe we might join them.
Well we love you all,

Char and Tony
